What is VoWiFi?
VoWiFi (also called Wi-Fi Calling) lets your phone make and receive regular calls and texts over a Wi-Fi connection instead of the mobile network.
You use your normal number and normal dialer with no separate app needed. The person you call notices no difference at all.
How does it work?
1. Your phone:
With Wi-Fi Calling on, your call starts on the phone as usual. Same dialer, same number.
2. Over the internet:
The call travels securely through your Wi-Fi router and the internet instead of a cell tower.
3. Operator network:
JTL receives it and connects the call like any normal one and deducts airtime or voice bundle minutes exactly the same way.
Seamless switching: your phone can hop between Wi-Fi and the mobile network mid-call as you move without dropping it (device & network dependent).
Is my device compatible?
1. Android
Most devices running Android 14 and above support Wi-Fi Calling. Check: Settings → Network & Internet (or Connections) → Wi-Fi Calling, then toggle it on.
2. iPhone:
Go to Settings → Phone (or Cellular) → Wi-Fi Calling. If the toggle appears, your iPhone supports it.
Is my device network ready:
The network already supports VoWiFi, no extra setup needed on your plan.
1. Two SIMs & travelling abroad:
Wi-Fi Calling can do a bit more than just improve indoor coverage.
2. If your phone has two SIMs:
Say SIM A is the JTL SIM card, while SIM B is a SIM card from another provider and is currently configured as the active SIM for internet access. Wi-Fi Calling lets people still reach you on your JTL number over the Internet provided by your other SIM.
What happens when you're abroad:
It works overseas too, using the very same setup: connect to any Wi-Fi and people can reach you as if you were at home. Nothing extra to change.
